We are off!

Beautiful day - Albury has had some lovely days the past week, albeit cold at night. A last-minute change of plan re bags saw an early morning re-pack.

Said goodbye to the dog and got away the regulation half hour late, although this had been built-in to the planning; but lots of roadwork delays so it was tough doing the trip in 3 hours - parked the car and manoeuvred our way through the labyrinth that Melb Airport has become.

MF1 was yet again ‘rejected’ at Passport Control - a regularity that would now leave us disappointed if it DIDN’T happen as MF2 and I watch him escorted off to be processed ‘manually’. He doesn’t ‘fit the algorithm’ apparently. No surprises there ...

I managed to finish Stasiland on the journey down - what an interesting book: I had no idea the cruelty of the Stasi to the East Germans. Anna Funder writes the personal stories of people who suffered the mindless  intrusion of the secret police and she also interviewed men who worked for the State Security Service. Oh my goodness.

24 hour’s travel time to Frankfurt.
